What is VoIP?
Voice over Internet Protocol that is VoIP is quite an interesting technology that’s starting to show its real characteristic in this Internet age. When you put it in simple words this technology means telephoning over the internet at very low costs. When you take it back a couple of years back this technology wasn’t the most reliable one, as it was pretty much new on the market and still in testing phase. Besides testing in on a large scale was not possible as not everybody had the possibilities to use this service due to lack in bandwidth. A proper server could be found but the users, well probably within the most developed countries, as it is not surprising to hear about the Dial-Up internet in some parts of Europe.
But besides the bandwidth requirements there were also other requirements that need to be fulfilled if you wanted to establish a connection using this service. Usually those requirements are applications that you need. They are quite small and simple and that don’t need any special setting up, because what you actually get on your screen is a visual telephone with all of ‘buttons’ and services of a standard home telephone. However in the last few years this technology has been improving and as an example I can write my personal experience. I was and still am using an old version of the telephone central. The past year or so a different service has been given by our telephone provider to cross over to as a new system which makes all the local calls free of charge. However my internet provider has given this service to me long time ago, just in the time when it started to make a boom in the world. At first I had to use a program so I could use this service, but after some time all I had to do is dial a four digit number before the actual number I would call and I was doing this through my regular phone line, not through a PC. This four digit number allows me access to a private server of my internet service provider and to make my calls totally isolated from my phone service company.
Let’s just say that the prices compared to each other were on the side of the Internet service provider and were more than 10X cheaper in some areas, mostly international. Now this was a single home user example so start thinking in a bigger picture for small or big companies that use telephones on the regular basis or better yet companies that specialize in telemarketing using phones as primary tool of their business. Normally those companies would have a special contract with the telephone companies to have a special discount due to its usage, but thanks to this technology the reduction in the cost for this company are enormous and the whole business is more profitable. The VoIP server is one of the most efficiently technologies that fulfill the process and its functions and completely are handled by a PSTN or Private Branch eXchange (PBX), or telephone switching system. But to have a system that functions without any glitches or possibility of making a glitch you need a trustworthy server. Actually what you need is a server which is especially intended for this purpose and nothing else, as signal being lost is out of the question in this business.
Conclusion
This technology brings forth the new age of communication, because it allows you to call from anywhere and anytime, of course if you have an Internet access. So that’s where the windows virtual servers come out to show their capabilities and for us to see can they fulfill the requirements of a larger company or in my case Internet provider and so forth… It’s not easy to sustain this kind of system as it requires what every windows virtual server hosting company advertises on their pages, reliability, flexibility and 24/7 support. However if you look better you will notice not everybody has those possibilities even if they wrote it on their main pages. All of these three categories are connected to each other. To have a reliable system you have to have 24/7 support to maintain it all the time and this also goes for the flexibility too. Also the history of the company that you are leasing the server from can tell you a lot about them… One simple data is enough for that and that is the year of the foundation of that company usually located on the bottom of the page. If that number is smaller let’s say 2 years you can’t be sure about that companies stability as only the ones that have been doing this line of work for many years have what it takes to maintain themselves on this expending and more demanding market.
